Becovic Management Group is the company the family started in 1973. It buys, owns and manages apartment communities, first around Chicago and now in Indiana and Florida. Its thirteen communities, two of them in development, include garden-style apartments in Plainfield and restored 1920s towers in Downtown Jacksonville.
Becovic’s own staff run each community.
Becovic builds or buys each community and runs it with its own staff. The team that picks the countertops also signs the capital plan and takes the maintenance calls, and the property directors report to Becovic’s own leadership.
With thirteen communities, the leadership team knows each property’s staffing, condition and capital needs.
The Indiana and Florida portfolios
The five Indiana communities are in and around Indianapolis: AYR at Glendale, Notch at Nora on the Monon Trail, The Springs and The Preserve at the edges of the city, and Central Park in Plainfield. A sixth, Alder & Main Residences in New Palestine, is in development.
The six Florida communities are in Tallahassee, Bradenton and Jacksonville. Three of them are restored towers in Downtown Jacksonville that Becovic bought and leases as apartments: The Carling, 11 East and The Residences at Barnett. A seventh, The Preserve at Gap Creek in Bradenton, is in development.
Solar panels and a community garden
Becovic designed The Preserve at Willow Springs with solar panels, a community garden and high-efficiency heating and cooling. At the other communities, Becovic builds to LEED-informed standards and picks materials that cut energy use.

01The CarlingBuilt 1926 as the Roosevelt HotelThe Carling opened in 1926 as the Roosevelt Hotel and now holds 100 apartments in the Downtown Jacksonville core. Residents have a rooftop terrace, a fitness center and a lounge.0211 EastBuilt 1926 as the Lynch Building · 17 stories11 East opened in 1926 as the Lynch Building, one of the skyscrapers Jacksonville put up during the Florida land boom. Its 17 stories now hold 127 apartments, some of them lofts, with restored common areas and skyline views from the upper floors.
03The Residences at BarnettThe 18-story Barnett National Bank BuildingThe Residences at Barnett has 107 apartments on the top eleven floors of the Barnett National Bank Building, an 18-story landmark in Downtown Jacksonville. Office tenants lease the floors below.
04Lost LakeLost Lake sits on the water in Jacksonville. Residents have a resort-style pool, an indoor gymnasium with a basketball court and a covered lounge by the lake.
05Millstream at CascadesMillstream at Cascades is in central Tallahassee, a short walk from Cascades Park and downtown. The apartments have industrial interiors, and the pool is on the roof.
06Terraces at PeridiaTerraces at Peridia in Bradenton has modern interiors, screened lanais and a resort-style pool among the palms. The on-site team runs a regular calendar of resident events.
07AYR ApartmentsGlendale Town Center, near Broad RippleAYR is in the middle of Glendale Town Center, east of Broad Ripple. It has floor plans in several sizes, modern finishes, a rooftop pool deck and views over the city.
08Central ParkCentral Park in Plainfield has large floor plans, attached garages and a low-density layout. Plainfield’s main shopping centers are a few minutes’ drive away.
09Notch at NoraOn the Monon TrailNotch at Nora backs onto the Monon Trail on the north side of Indianapolis, a short commute from downtown. The apartments have contemporary interiors, and there’s a saltwater pool and a dog park.
